What Sellers Can Expect During a Showing

When you put your home on the market, one of the most important steps is preparing for showings. A showing gives potential buyers their first impression of your home — and that impression can make all the difference. Here’s what to expect, plus a few tips to help your home shine.

Preparing for the Showing

  • Lights On: Bright, well-lit spaces feel more inviting. Turn on all lights (even lamps and closets) so buyers see your home at its best.

  • Blinds and Curtains Open: Natural light creates warmth and makes rooms appear larger. Pull back drapes and open blinds to let the sunlight in.

  • Leave the Home: It can feel awkward for buyers to look around while the seller is home. Stepping out gives buyers privacy and allows them to picture themselves living in the space.

What Happens After the Showing

Once a showing is complete, we will follow up with the buyers’ agent to ask for their thoughts. Feedback can take a day or two to come in, and while we do our best to track it down, sometimes agents simply don’t respond. When we do receive feedback, we’ll share it with you in the way we’ve agreed on — whether that’s via call, text, or email.

It’s important to remember that no response can sometimes be feedback in itself. If a buyer doesn’t move forward, it usually means the home wasn’t the right fit for them. Likewise, if there are no offers after multiple showings, that can be the market telling us that adjustments may be needed.

Our Commitment

Our role is to make sure you feel informed throughout the process. From preparing your home to following up on every showing, we’re here to guide you through each step and help position your home for the right buyer.
