The Agua Hedionda Lagoon offers water skiing, paddle boarding and hiking along the water’s edge. Alga Norte Community Park is a popular outdoor spot featuring an expansive skate park, a dog park, three ball fields, basketball courts, a large playground, and picnic areas with barbecues. It also features a state-of-the-art aquatic center offering a swimming pool, swimming lessons, aquatic camps, and much more.

Locals and tourists alike enjoy spending time at the Legoland California Theme Park and Resort, Water Park, and Sea Life Aquarium. Just down the road, fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers make up The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch, which are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year – from early March through early May. The fields, which are located on a hillside with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, are a stunning sight to see!

The City of Carlsbad has enacted ordinances to protect sensitive, vulnerable wildlife habitat. The city has dedicated significant funding to restore habitat demolished by recent development. Further, the city has agreed to set aside and protect specific areas within city limits from development. Carlsbad is a progressive city dedicated to preserving its very desirable environment.
